Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova is in the semi finals of the Australian Open. Whether you are a tennis fan or not this is good for men who are fans of long legged blondes being shown on TV in short skirts. Which is obviously a very big demographic.

Every round, the six foot three inch blonde makes, is one more time she will be on TV and we like that scenario. What Swallows are to Capistrano the Australian Open is to hot Russian born tennis players and Miss Sharapova is the hottest.

Dale Jr, Sharapova and Paula Creamer

I spent today cooking a brisket low and slow with Dale Earnhardt Jr, Maria Sharapova and Paula Creamer. If that is not a great Sunday I don’t know what is. Sure granted the sports stars weren’t actually with me but given the size of my 73 inch TV they sure looked like it.

Dale Jr had a decent day finishing 14th. Paula Creamer scared the winner a little and finished two back while looking great in pink. Maria Sharapova survived over 60 unforced errors to win her tournament – a tune up for the U.S. Open. The brisket, after eight hours, turned out tender and moist. So all in all it was a very successful day for me and my sporting friends.

Maria Sharapova in the Wimbledon Finals

Is there anything better in sports than watching Maria Sharapova play tennis? Yes, maybe watching Paula Creamer playing golf – maybe.

Yesterday I watched Sharapova fight back against a slightly shorter, harder hitting, clone of the tall blonde Russian born, American player.

It was great. Mostly because she won and guaranteed me an opportunity to watch her again on Saturday. Oh yes, she also gave herself a chance at a second Wimbledon title.

I am picking her to win which is no surprise – I always pick her – but this is different. If she wins or loses it still means it’s the last game she will play this week. I have often been accused of picking her just in the hopes of seeing her play more. Ya think? Geniuses!

This time is different. I am picking Maria Sharapova because she will win her second title and prove to the catty female announcers she is back and as good as ever.

You can take it to the bank.

Maria Sharapova beat at French Open

Once again our reason for watching the French Open has failed to make the finals. Maria Sharapova is not a great clay court player but we had hopes. Those hopes were stepped on by a player named Li Na from China this morning.

Maria Sharapova fan…not a tennis fan

Hey French Open!

I was watching Maria Sharapova when you so rudely switched coverage to Andy Murray.

Do you not want fans to watch?

Sharapova defeats Ioana Raluca Olaru in Straight sets

The blond queen of tennis, Maria Sharapova, defeated a cute little Romanian, Ioana Raluca Olaru,  player this morning in straight sets.

Maria looking as good as usual, looked like she is set to make a run deep into Wimbledon and we couldn’t be happier. You know our motto – the more Sharapova the better.

I must mention though; as far as hot tennis players go, Ioana Raluca Olaru is close to the top of the list. Sure she loses points for the brunette hair but like Ana Ivanovic it works for her ( and us ).

It was very nice to not only see Maria but to also see another player, who no one would mistake for a man with long hair and huge cottage cheese thighs.

Against anyone else but Maria we may have been rooting for the petite Romanian with the toned body and great smile.

Ioana Raluca Olaru;

(Wikipedia)
Ioana Raluca Olaru (born 3 March 1989) is a Romanian tennis player. As of 19 April 2010, she is ranked World No. 80 in singles[1] and No. 88 in doubles.[2] The winner of nine singles and six doubles ITF Circuit titles,[3] Olaru reached one WTA Tour singles final, at the 2009 Gastein Ladies,[4] losing to Andrea Petkovic 6–2, 6–3.[5] She has also won one doubles title, at the 2008 Tashkent Open.
Olaru was a successful junior player. She was the runner–up in both singles and doubles at the 2005 French Open,[6] and captured the 2006 US Open doubles title along with Mihaela Buzărnescu. Her best professional grand slam result so far has been the third round of the 2007 French Open, when she defeated the 30th seed Julia Vakulenko in straight sets and lost to eventual runner–up, the 7th seed Ana Ivanović.[7] Olaru reached her highest singles ranking, World No. 53, on 27 July 2009, and her highest doubles ranking, No. 82, on 22 March 2010.[3]

World Cup Soccer or Wimbledon

World Cup Soccer or Wimbledon?

This is not a fair choice. I am as patriotic as the next guy but making me choose between watching the U.S men run around in shorts or Maria Sharapova gracefully glide around the grass of the All England Club is a no brainer.

It’s like making me choose between joining the U.S. Marine Corp or the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading squad. Yes I want to do my part for my country but doing the cheerleaders “part” would be more fun.

Then you throw in buzzing bees or angry kazoos or  whatever the annoying sound is and you have me watching Sports Center for the results of World Cup soccer and not missing a minute of Miss Sharapova and her long legs and shorts skirts.

If I use more pictures

Over the years I have been sent several suggestions on what this blog should be about. They have ranged from cooking recipes to landscaping tips to of course letting someone else write it. For those of you (both of you) who read it regularly you know the blog content is a salute to Seinfeld.

It’s about my sports watching habits. It’s about my aversion to mowing my lawn while telling you how to mow yours. It’s about my constant (and fun) battles with businesses and their terrible service (have you used IPowerWeb.com?). But, like Seinfeld, mostly it’s about nothing.

The real and imagined nothings that make up my life.

One thing, however, I have noticed over the eight years I have written some form of this blog was you people can not read. I have come to this conclusion because the blog posts that get viewed the most are the ones with pictures. Mostly pictures of Maria Sharapova, Ashley Harkleroad and Paula Creamer.

My viewers are apparently very fond of women’s golf and women’s tennis – especially if they are played by blonde hotties with short skirts or in Ashley’s case no skirt.

This I can relate to.

It takes very little effort to peruse photographs of sports cuties.
Not like the mind minding exercise of thinking about what color freezer pop my monkey just dipped in my tequila. If looking at photos of young fit female athletes takes your mind off work or the mortgage or whatever demons are haunting you it is worth me finding them for you.

I will, just for both of you, spend thankless, long tedious hours scouring the web and looking at hundreds , maybe thousands of pictures of Sharapova and and Creamer just to find the best ones. I will even sacrafice my own time with my monkey to, one more time, spend hours studying Ashley Harkleroad’s Playboy spread.

It’s the least I can do for the two people who puts up with my drone, dry stories of Best Buy, Pizza Hut and my ever growing lawn. We won’t mention the Celtics – thats a sore subject this morning.

The very least I can do for an illiterate audience who puts up with me.

Venus and Sharapova lose

It was a day of losing for the beauty and the beast. Maria Sharapova lost to Justine Henin who looks like a rat and has less class.

Venus Williams lost to  – who cares? She is gone and that is the only reason to mention her.

With Sharapova out of the French Open, I guess I am pulling for Elena Dementieva. She is pretty decent to look at and plays well too. Both things ClubHusband looks for in our tennis favorites. Looks being the most important.

Someone once asked if that was the case for men who play tennis too. Our reaction of course was – men play too?
